Mr Brendan Howard

Biography

Brendan joined Rio Tinto as a graduate geologist in 1993 and has undertaken a wide range of technical and commercial roles across the Group including for Exploration (Pilbara, Indonesia, Peru and Canada), Diamonds (Business Development / Business analysis), Rio Tinto India (Corporate Development), Group Finance (Support Strategy Review) and Growth & Innovation (capability development).

In his current role, Brendan leads the global Technical Excellence program which is designed to ensure that Rio Tinto has the requisite capability to safely manage technical risks and deliver its productivity targets.

Brendan has a degree in geology (B.Sc (Hons) Geology) from UNSW, and an MBA from LaTrobe University.
