MESC 2020 UPDATES

[19 June 2020]

For 30 years, Mine Electrical Safety Association Conference (MESC) attendees have told us that they receive incredible value from meeting face to face with colleagues and friends in the industry.  They value the technical programme and equally value the chance to socialise and network, as well as learning about the new products and services offered by our sponsors and exhibitors.

We are aware of the economic impact being felt by our sponsors, exhibitors and attendees and their organisations and that many companies will not approve staff travel for the remainder of the year. Due to this, as well as the uncertainty as to when a conference of the size of MESC can be held (and what restrictions will still be in place), it is with regret that the MESA Committee announce the cancellation of the Mine Electrical Safety Conference in 2020.

We had investigated the option of holding a virtual event.  However, it is our view that holding a virtual event does not provide the same value to attendees as when we meet face-to-face – MESA conferences are all about the networking and sharing of knowledge and experiences!

[8 April 2020] The Mine Electrical Safety Conference will be held Monday 30 November - Wednesday 2 December 2020.

All bookings for sponsors and exhibitors, and attendee registrations (including accommodation bookings) will be automatically transferred to the new conference dates.

[20 March 2020] The Mine Electrical Safety Association (MESA) Committee have made the decision to postpone the conference until November. The Conference Organisers are working with the venue to confirm the actual dates and these will be advised as quickly as possible.

All bookings for sponsors and exhibitors, and attendee registrations (including accommodation bookings) will be automatically transferred to the new conference dates. Once the updated dates are announced, should you not be able to attend the cancellation policy will be altered to provide a full refund by the deadline date (to be announced when dates are confirmed).

[16 March 2020]  The Mine Electrical Safety Association Committee places the highest priority on the health and safety of conference attendees.  We have been closely monitoring the advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Australian Chief Medical Officer.

We are also aware of the economic impact being felt by our sponsors, exhibitors and attendees and their organisations, and will be able to provide advice regarding MESC 2020 by the end of this week.

Welcome to the Mine Electrical Safety Conference 2020.

For more than 30 years, the Mine Electrical Safety Conference (MESC) in Queensland has been the premier mine electrical safety conference in Australia. In 2019, the MESC expanded to Western Australia.

Hosted by the Mine Electrical Safety Association (MESA), the conference is a great opportunity to learn and network among some of the most knowledgeable people in Australia on mining and quarry safety. It is also an opportunity for you to contribute to the direction of mine electrical safety within the industry.

The MESC is an important event and brings together government departments, consultants, suppliers and key industry decision makers to hear technical presentations on all matters relating to electrical safety within the mining industry. The technical programme identifies areas of improvement and innovations for electrical safety, along with providing information and learnings to help improve safety and productivity.

By hosting the Mine Electrical Safety Conference, MESA provides a tangible way to provide professional development and education to improve workplace safety and reduce harm.

Supported by the Mine Electrical Safety Association

The Mine Electrical Safety Association (MESA) Inc was formed more than 30 years ago with the goal of promoting electrical safety in the mining industry.

MESA continues to lead the way in the industry with the focus on safety.  Since its inception, MESA has been an important leader in bringing together the working face of the industry, suppliers and consultants with government departments and key industry decision makers.  This collaboration has the goal of identifying electrical safety problems and, by consultation, provide information with a view to improving safety and productivity.

MESA values safety greatly and is continuously looking to improve workplaces for those involved in the mining industry.

MESA is proud to lead the way in industry education focussing on mine electrical safety and strongly believes in the benefits of meeting face-to-face to learn, network and share knowledge on how the industry is performing along with ways to improve workplace safety and reduce harm.
