Visa Information
Under Australia's universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements; and permanent residents of Norfolk Island who may be granted a Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island visa on arrival). For more information, see the fact sheet: http://www.border.gov.au/about/corporate/information/fact-sheets/17nz
There are many visa options available to people wishing to visit Australia. The appropriate visa option will depend, amongst other things, on the person's purpose for visiting Australia.
Conference attendees are recommended to apply for their visa well in advance of their intended date of travel to Australia. Information about visa processing times is available on the Department’s website: www.border.gov.au/about/access-accountability/service-standards
Please refer to the Business Information Sheet for guidance on the visa options that may be most suitable for conference attendees.
Conference attendees should also refer to the General Information for Visa Applicants.
On advice from the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection who issue visas, the Conference Organisers do not provide Letters of Invitation. Their advice is that, if you meet the entry requirements for a visa, your confirmation letter and paid tax invoice (received once you complete your Conference registration including payment) will be sufficient evidence of your attendance at the Conference. Further information can be found at Department of Immigration and Border Protection - https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Trav/Conf
NB: These are the visa options available presently but the Department reserves the right to change regulations. Visa applicants must demonstrate that they meet all the legislative requirements for an Australian visa.
